School Bags for Jesus
Please support our Parish Mission outreach this year, School Bags for Jesus. You may get the bags from the parish and fill them up with items listed on the poster. You may then drop them off at the church, parish office or the school. Deadline for collection will be on the 8th of September.
Safeguarding Program
The Safeguarding Program was initiated in 2014 by Archbishop Timothy Costelloe in response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Child Sexual Abuse. In late 2018, the Safeguarding Program was launched in the Bunbury Diocese following the Clergy Safeguarding Training.
Safeguarding Officers, in partnership with the Parish Priest, are responsible for ensuring the safety of children, young people and the vulnerable within the Catholic Church. The Safeguarding Program includes educating the Catholic community on child protection and protective behaviours and establishing Safeguarding Officers within all parishes. A Safeguarding Handbook has been developed.
The Safeguarding Program is child-focused and informed by a fundamental belief that children have the right to physical and psychological safety at all times and we, the Catholic Diocese of Bunbury, must play our part in protecting all children and vulnerable individuals. It will be focused on the prevention of abuse and harm to children and vulnerable individuals within parishes and the response to these, using a framework considered to be best practice.
If you would like to know more or if anyone you know has a concern about a child or adult please feel free to approach the Harvey Parish Safeguarding Officer, Roxanne Morrissey, to discuss such concerns or send an email to sgo1harveyparish@gmail.com.
